Worsening global digital divide as the US and China continue zero-sum competitions

NEWARK, NEW JERSEY - OCTOBER 06: Amazon workers, environmental advocates, labor groups, and small business owners participate in a rally and news conference to protest plans for a new Amazon air cargo mega-hub at the Newark International Airport on October 06, 2021 in Newark, New Jersey. The plan by the e-commerce retailer would give Amazon a 20-year lease through the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to construct two 250,000-square-foot air cargo facilities next to the airport, letting the company significantly expand its footprint in the tri-state region. Critics are concerned about the company’s labor practices and they claim that the plan with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has been shrouded in secrecy with little community input.
